Abstract:For the characteristic of dispersion, surface waves and reflections are overlapped in spectral domains.Traditional processing such as surgical muting may cause damage to data in terms of waveform distortion and narrowing the spectral band of data.In this paper, a new method named inverse-dispersion (ID) algorithm is presented to suppress surface waves.Events of surface waves are easily to be separated by removing the difference of travel time which is caused by dispersion. The method also shows its power in attenuating the aliasing of surface wave. Both synthetic and field data examples confirm that our new approach suppresses surface waves while maintains reflections.
