Velocity recovery method for special geological bodies

Abstract:It is important to get accurately the interval velocity for high-precision 3-D velocity field construction,specially in complicated geological areas where some special high-velocity geological bodies exist,such as igneous,gypsum and conglomerate rocks,which can result in great errors of velocity field.This paper gives a method to restore accurately the velocity of these special geological bodies.Firstly,we analyze the distribution and depth of igneous rock using drilling data.Then we determine the top and bottom times of the igneous rock on acoustic log data.After that,we calculate the interval velocity of the igneous rock.Finally,we fill this interval velocity to seismic velocity spectrum to construct high-precision velocity field.Applications to real data illustrate that this method is effective and simple.
