Abstract:The hypocenter location is the basic problem in microseismic monitoring. Two acquisition methods are used in the industry for microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracturing: downhole arrays and surface arrays. Surface arrays have lower hypocenter vertical accuracy, while downhole arrays have lower hypocenter lateral accuracy. In order to improve the location accuracy, we propose a new approach, namely time-reverse location with the interferometric imaging condition based on surface and downhole arrays multi-components. Tests on elastic models and stochastic models show that the proposed method can greatly improve location accuracy even with sparse arrays and inaccurate velocity model.
