Abstract:There are always rather strong variations of interval velocity calculated by Dix formulas. So it is difficult to pick up the low frequency trend of the interval velocity. Based on Dix formula we propose in the paper a mean iteration method and use it to calculate the low frequency trend of interval velocity. Experimental results show that the proposed method can calculate the low frequency trend of interval velocity without strong variation problems. This method can be treated as a low-pass filter. Its results are well consistent with interval velocity curves calculated by inversions.
