Abstract:We expand in this paper the classical Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) to the fractional Wigner-Ville distribution (FrWVD), and then introduce the FrWVD into time-frequency analysis and spectrum decomposition of complex seismic signals. Using the rotation property of the fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) and the theory of generalized time bandwidth product (GTBP), this approach can obtain the time-frequency representation with much higher resolution than the classical WVD. The proposed optimal fractional pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution can much better solve cross term suppression problems. Test results on model and real data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Meanwhile, spectral imaging in the fractional domain may provide a new way for hydrocarbon reservoir fluid identification.
