Abstract:A time lapse electromagnetic survey was conducted in Sebei 2 Gas Field in Qaidam Basin for reservoir monitoring. Four continuous electromagnetic profiling (CEMP) lines with 199 sounding stations were laid out. Remote reference stations were used to suppress noise in the field. The techniques of high sampling of frequency to increase the data, fidelity static shift correction and high resolution two-dimensional inversion methods were adorted, which could improve greatly inversion resolution. For the time lapse magnetotelluric data, inversion sections show distinct high resistance characteristics in Sebei-2 Gas Field, which is very helpful for reservoir monitoring. The inversion results of the first survey data agree very well with the logging data, and the predicted boundaries and thickness of gas reservoir are consistent with drilling data. The inversion results of the second survey show that gas reservoir decreases from shallow to deep. All of These results indicate that time lapse magnetotelluric survey is feasible for reservoir monitoring. The third monitoring surveys will be carried out in the near future.
