Abstract:The paper introduced geoid status in southwest region of Tarim Basin that is low precision in distance difference of geoid and even absent and its effect on precision of oil geophysical prospecting,brought up that in order to transform geodetic height measured from GPS to sea level elevation.It needs to transform geodetic height in GPS 84 coordinate to geodetic height in Beijing 54 oordinate,and then obtain sea level elevation after adding difference of geoid to geodetic height in Beijing coordinate.It has been adopted 7 known heights of state-control point in the area in the paper and used second curved surface fitting to calculate GPS sea level of whole grid.The fitting results basically meet the need for oil exploration.Meanwhile made a suggestion on ultimately solving the geoid problem in the area.
