Abstract:A new technique for noise elimination using operator extrapolation in f-x domain has been put forward on the basis of detailed analysis of the technique for noise elimination using prediction filtering in f-x domain. Its presumptive premise and mathematic principle are nearly the same as those of the latter one. Its only difference to this latter one is that high S/N contents in mid frequency band are extrapolated to obtain prediction operators of high and low frequency bands, by using intertrace time(or energy)difference between useful reflection and linear(or quasi linear)noise and by taking the presumption that all frequency contents of useful signal event have equal time difference. The application of these derived prediction operators to prediction-filtering noise elimination suppresses the random and linear(or quasi linear)noises which mingle in useful seismic waves, but protects useful high-frequency seismic signals.
