Abstract:We analyse amplitude-depth curve and propagation characteristics of Love wave in cross-borehole low velocity layer. Theoretical data show that guided wave in low velocity layer is the main propagation form of energy, and has frequency dispersion. Modeling research says that source frequency and the location variation of source and receivers are the major factors which influence guided waves. We can record guided waves belonging to different modes,or the guided waves which belong to same mode but display different energy distributions, when source and receivers are at proper locations. The technique is an effective means for detecting the continuity of low velocity reservoir.
