Abstract:The Zhoukou depression is a Mesozoic-Cenozoic faulted depression that overlies the North-China tectonic unit and the south-marginal structural belt. In the depression, there exist many positive and negative inversion structures, which may be classed respectively into four subtypes and two subtypes in terms of their charactens. These inversion structures were controlled by tectonic movements in alt evolution phases of Zhoukou depression. Existing materials say that negative inversion structure is unfavourable to primary hydrocarbon accumulation but facilitates the secondary hydrocarbon migration to form secondary hydrocarbon reservoir, and that positive inversion structure not only has rich source rock but also favours hydrocarbon accumulation because extensional fault offers migration path and late overthrusting makes fault closed.
