Abstract:In seismic data processing,people generally deem that signalJnoise ratio improvement and resolution improvement are very contradictions each other The authors put forward a new method that greatly raises signalJnoise ratio but damages seismic resolution a little The new method involves the following essential points: •In view of the fact that seismic data in f-x domain are predictable in both x and f directions,the mid-frequency seismic contents in f direction which have high signal jnoise ratio may be selected to locate,by making prediction and extrapolation,the low-frequency and high-frequency seismic contents which show low signal/noise ratio (Predictive noise elimination in x direction must be done for each extrapolation). •The amplitude spectrum of dual-directional prediction result is changed into the amplitude spectrum of an expected wavelet. •The selected wavelet has higher dominant frequency and wider frequency band than others,so that people can consider seismic resolution in the course of noise elimination,and pay attention to signal/noise ratio during the resolution improvement. Quite good effect has been received in theoretical and real data processings.
