Abstract:The accuracy and efficiency of computation are the two problems to which geophysicists pay closest attention in studying the seismic forward modeling methods based on wave equations. The existing forward modeling methods have their own merits and demerits. Thus, synthesizing different methods to form hybrid algorithm is an important aspect in studying the forward modeling methods. Having analysed the existing acoustic-wave equation hybrid algorithms,we advance a forward modeling hybrid algorithm that results from the combination of the elastic-wave finite element method and pseudospectrum method. This algorithm has the advantages of both these methods, results in quite high computation accuracy and efficiency, and applies to the forward computation of elastic wave field. The theoretical computation example is given of 2-D elastic wave field in the case of point source. The theoretical result says that the algorithm brings us correct outcome, high accuracy and fast speed in forward modeling.
