Abstract:The ideal target of seismic data processing is to get reflection coefficient,that is to say,the wavelet is impulse function. But limited by frequency band arid signal/ noise ratio of raw seismic data , we only get the record of bandlimited wavelets. The wavelets we often use are band-pass wavelet and Ricker wavelet. The former has long lasting period and complicated side-lobe waveforms,and the latter has high side-lobe amplitudes. Both of them are riot the satisfactory approximation of impulse function. So,I design a new wavelet,which is composed of some Ricker wavelets with different band widths,and called wide-band Ricker wavelet. The wide-band Ricker wavelet has narrow main lobe,small side lobe amplitudes,simple waveform and low peak frequency of amplitude spectrum iri the case of equal main lobe widths,so that it is superior to the common-used wavelets iri the fidelity and signal/noise ratio.
