Abstract:Hydrocarbon-bearing porous rock involved in oil and gas explorations is a typical mufti-phase medium. Researching into wave character in mufti-phase medium is an important subject geophysicists face nowadays. The theory and finite difference method for obtaining P-wave response in two-phase medium are given on the basis of Biot theory. An absorption boundary condition is presented to remove pseudo reflection wave from artificial boundary. The reflected and transmitted waves are analysed which occur because of fast and slow P-waves incident upon a plane interface. Two kinds of synthetic records produced by using the same model and Biot theory or elastic theory respectively are shown here. They are very similar except some differences in energy and waveform, which suggests that Biot equation may bring more lithology informations to offer reliable indications of direct hydrocarbon discovery.
