Abstract:Apparent velocity and polarization are important characters of seesmie wave,VSP wave field can be separated using the corresponding characteristic differences between P-wave and S-wave,VSP wave field separation method recommended here considers both the apparent velocity and the polarization,The wave field separation of three component(H1,H2,Z) VSP data follows the following steps: •Compose horizontal components H1 and月z into total horizontal component H by using vector composition law. •Make forward τ-p transform of H and Z to obtain their spectra UH and UZ in τ-p domain according to the property of apparent velocity. •Use polarization property to obtain UP and USV from UH and U in τ-p domain,which are τ-p domain spectra of P-wave and SV-wave, •Perform inverse τ-p transform of UPSV so as to obtain P-wave and V-wave. This method was used to process both synthetic data and real three component VSP data,good results were obtained.
