Abstract:Three different models were made of marble, wood, yellow wax and crude oil. Crude oil was filled in fractures and pores, or mixed uniformly with medium to form three binds of oil-bearing patterns. Experiments on the relations between wave kinematic character, wave dynamic character or medium resistivity and oil content in medium were accomplished using ultrasonic modeling method in laboratory.The experimental results say that when oil content in medium increases:•the amplitude of seismic wave attenuates gradually;•the resistivity of medium increases gradually;•both P-wave velocity and S-wave velocity tend downwards. dominant frequency f0 in power and amplitude spectra of seismic wave splits into two dominant frequenciesf1 andf2; besides, the amplitude and power tend upwards which are relevant to f1, that reflects oil content in medium, The variation regularity of these physical parameters depends on oil content in medium instead of medium character and oil-bearing pattern.
