Abstract:The generation of delta was controlled by many factors such as the volume of flow in river,the amount of elastics carried by water flow,climate,the geographic environment and geological structure of a palaeolake,and so on.Some factors might play a decisive role in forming a certain delta;therefore,there occur various delta sedimentation models.Most lake delta discovered in the east part of China usually occur along the direction of long axis of a palaeolake。According to the position or shape,delta can be classified into elongate delta and fan delta.If analysed from the progradational reflection configuration,delta can be classed into five types;gentle sigmoid pattern,steep sigmoid pattern,parallel-oblique pattern,tangent-oblique pattern and oblique pattern.The gentle sigmoid pattern delta was mainly formed by fine-grained elastics in low energy environment.Oblique pattern delta (including parallel-oblique and tangentoblique patterns)wexe formed in high energy environment,rough grained classics accounting for 30-50%.Steep sigmoid pattern delta was also formed in high energy environment,gritty contents accounting for 35%at least.
