Abstract:Multichannel coherent enhancemLnt is usually used to raise S/N ratio in seismic data processing, however it is unfavourable to the seisrnic signals whose coherency is still not good after static and residual NNIO correctionso This factor that coherency is not good can be avoided when the first main component in KL transform (Karhuner-Loeve transform) is used to extract coherent signals from seismic trace gathers.After KL transform, each two main components are orthogonal and uncorrelated each other.The coherent signal energy concentrates on the first main component, while the noise energy distributes on aI1 main components so that signal energy and noise energy can be summed up respectively to estimate SjN ratio. The estimation of first main component in KL transform is called KL filtering.The seismic data after KL filtering show a obvious irnprovernent of S/N ratio. KL filtering brings better result than coherent enhancement does.
