Abstract:After a common shotpoint gather or a CDP gather in layered medium is transformed into zp domain,the direct wave converges to a point,and reflected waves become ellipses.The intersection points of two successive ellipses indicate both refracted wave and reflected wave from the lower layer at the infinite distance,zp transform can relate reflected wave to refracted wave,and makes useful the waves(e,g.refracted wave)which were treated as noises in processing.p is defined as horizontal apparent slowness, therefore longitudinal wave and transverse wave can be separated well in z}-p domain.The accurate formula of time-distance curve is used to develop theoretical common shotpoint gather,which includes direct wave, shallow refracted wave,reflected waves and refracted waves in layered medium,Some examples of suppressing linear noises are given,and the attempt is made to eliminate the aliasing effect in z-p transform.
