Abstract:All the conventional vibrators use the sweep signal of which the instantaneous frequency shows linear change with time. If a proper nonlinear change of the instantaneous frequency is realized, we can get a frequency spectrum whose input is the mean of the reciprocals of bed attenuation coefficients, The time function of the frequency spectrum is a logarithmic sweep signal, whose amplitudes in 10-100Hz band may be increased by 20 db. This sweep signal has desired advantages; more high frequency content, less harmonic and low frequency contents, and higher formation resolution.
