Abstract:Formation interpretation by interval velocity is often limited by interval velocity resolution and the accuracy of the velocity. The minimum bed thickness identified with the interval velocity method is 100 to 300 meters, and the accuracy of the interval velocity depends on the quality of field seismic record, spread length and the accuracy of velocity analysis. Therefore, it is very important to improve data processing and increase the accuracy of velocity analysis. An example of interval velocity application is presented at the conclution of the paper.
