Abstract:High velocity accuracy, high computation speed and advanced velocity display method are the three aims sought in velocity analysis technique. The successive velocity spectrum which developed on the basis of fast correlated sign bit velocity spectrum technique can pick up velocity spectrum point by point along a seismic section. The successive velocity spectrum is easy to make, therefore it can save time and money. In addition, the successive velocity spectrum is beneficial to the formation of coloured velocity section. The coloured velocity section is a display form in which a horizontal stack section combines with corresponding velocity colour marks, therefore it makes more visible the features of a seismic section.
