Abstract:The petroleum exploration level in Qaidam basin is lower, but the petroleum resource is abundant and there is great potential of exploration. A lot of geophysical anomalies have been discovered in Sanhu area of the basin, some of which are caused by gas deposit factor and the others are caused by low velocity layer or lithologic factor. So, identifying the nature of these anomalies is the key of success or failure of exploration. The paper analyzed in detail the feature of resistivity of the region and using magnetotelluric shallow inversion to carry out study and anomalous analysis on anomalous feature of resistivity and anomalous feature of high-resistivity cluster in the gas field, discovering that the position of gas deposit certainly results in anomaly of high-resistivity cluster but the anomaly of high-resistivity cluster is uncertain about the existence of gas deposit.
