Abstract:Since the time-distance curve of converted wave is not hyperbolic, the traditional hyperbolic processing technique is not appropriate for converted wave. If taking the higher terms in Taylor series of time-distance equation, the complex mathematic operation is needed and the processed results are more inaccurate along with the offset increasing. In view of these difficulties, the paper takes t2 as the function of x2 and expanses the function by Taylor series, taking the first two terms that are also the transformation of second power constant term and offsets. This transformation builds up a new relation between the velocity and offsets, in which the t2-x2 curve (x is new “offsets”) is hyperbolic, the ordinary P-wave processing flow can be directly used in the following converted wave data processing flow. The processing results of synthetic data showed the approach can effectively improve the quality of P-S wave velocity analysis, NMO and common converted point stack for middle-shallow horizons and larger offsets data.
