Abstract:The method computing interval velocity by traditional Dix formula is only suitable for horizontal layered strata and minor offset. In a situation of complex underground medium with strong variation of velocity laterally, it is necessary to study a regularized velocity analysis technique. On the basis of stable and rapid constraint velocity inversion presented by Mr. Koren et al, the paper presented a method of 3-D constraint Dix inverted interval velocity, which uses Dix constraint inversion to get instantaneous velocity field, then uses damping least square method to input smooth stack velocity, uses associated matrix linear equation to get disturbance of interval velocity and the convolution to define smooth interval velocity, finally get optimum distribution of interval velocity. It is shown by using the method for the practical data in TFT working area that the section of interval velocity computed by the method is characterized by higher precision, clear reflection of structural details and effectively identifying the anomalous region of interval velocity, which provided foundation for reservoir prediction.
