Abstract:The cavernous porosity reservoir of carbonate is typical complex non-homogeneous medium, understanding the feature of seismic wavefield in this kind of special medium-produced structure has important meaning for identification of cavernous porosity reservoir. The paper uses random medium model and elastic wave equation of non-homogeneous medium to do systematical forward simulation and theoretical analysis on cave-in cavern, multi-cavern composition and cavernous porosity reservoir-related “a string of beads” phenomenon, yielding some meaningful conclusions. The seismic response of cave-in cavern is relative not only to its size and shape, but also to the infilling material in the cavern. As concern to the seismic response of multi-cavern composition, the short events associated with the sizes of caverns appeared on migrated sections, which are mainly determined by the distances between the caves: if the distance between the caverns is short, the several short events are jointed together; if larger, the events may be separated. It should have two conditions to form “a string of beads” phenomenon: the one is the scattered wave has enough energy;the other is that the conditions forming strong multiples should be possessed.
