Abstract:Due to limitation of seismic vertical and horizontal resolution, it is very difficult to estimate cave reservoir volume. The commonly used method is to establish the calibration curve of cave reservoir. But this method is affected by a few complicated factors. Considering different influence factors of cave reservoir, we propose an estimation method of carbonate cave-reservoirs volume based on physical model. According to seismic and geological conditions of the actual carbonate reservoir, a complex three-dimensional physical model is built, which is contained by different overlying structure, different cave size, and different fillings. Then 3D seismic data is processed and seismic attributes of the physical model are chosen. After that, 3D visualization is used to sculpt seismic attribute bodies, so seismic information of cave reservoir is retained. This seismic attribute volume is converted to the volume of actual geologic body. In the end, we obtain the relationship between the seismic attribute volume and the geologic volume. It is found that when the overlying layers are more complex, the bigger cave volume is, the smaller impedance the fillings in it have.
