Abstract:We correct in this paper an error in the frequency-domain expression of improved generalized S transform in the paper named "An Improved Generalized S Transform"(Qi Chunyan et al. OGP, 2010, 45(2):215-218), and prove that its inverse transform without energy-loss is incorrect. As a lossless invertible time-frequency analysis, S transform has been widely used in seismic data processing. So many scholars have conducted researches on this topic, and proposed different improved algorithms. Based on existing generalized S transform algorithms, we propose a general expression of generalized S transform. Then we discuss the role that the parameters of the generalized S transform expression play on time(or frequency) resolution in time-frequency analysis, and points out the physical meaning of each parameter. Finally, we validate analysis of experiment results, and propose a strategy of parameter selection for the transform.
