De-ghosting of variable-depth streamer data based on LSMR

Abstract:In variable-depth towed streamer seismic acquisition,ghost notch diversity can cause narrow bandwidth and lower resolution. Therefore we propose an approach to suppress the ghost. We derive the new relationship between the up-going wavefield at the sea surface and the total wavefield at the streamer based on the theory of plane wave propagation,which can be used to build the linear τ-p equation. Furthermore,the up-going wavefield at the sea surface can be obtained with the least squares minimal residual (LSMR) method to solve the equation. Finally,we can obtain up-going wavefield with a wavefield extrapolation operator. Test results on synthetic and field data show that the proposed approach not only has the advantage of fast convergence,but also can get a more stable solution. It can improve the computation efficiency,promote de-ghosting result,and achieve the goal of broadening seismic data bandwidth.
