Abstract:Since the middle and late of 1990s,the multi-component seismic based on the theories of seismic anisotropy has achieved lots of progress. The multi-component seismic has shown good application result and favorable development foreground in solving problems such as fracture detection, fluid identification and reservoir prediction in complex lithological reservoirs, fractured reservoirs or coal seams strata. In this paper, some advances in multi-component seismic are summarized in terms of multi-component acquisition, processing, interpretation and inversion. With cases studies to illuminate the effects of these new processing and interpretation approaches, some issues in the multi-component seismic are also discussed respectively. At last, the developing direction of multi-component seismic technique is predicted.
