The new two-term elastic impedance inversion and its application to predict deep gas-bearing carbonate reserviors

Abstract:Changxing formation carbonate reservoirs aredeeply buried in the Northeastern Sichuan Basin.Seismic data with large angle is hardly acquired,and data signal-to-noise ratio is very low.In orderto meet these challenges,by introducing a new ap-proximate formula, a method to pick up petro-physical parameters from two elastic impedance da-to volumes with middle and small angles is pro-posed in the paper. Based on Aki-Richards approx-imation formula of Zoeppritz’s equation, the newtwo-term elastic wave impedance formula ex-pressed by compressional wave impedance andshear wave impedance is derived.In the discardeddensity item,the density approaches to compres-sional wave impedance by using compressionalwave velocity and density of exponential fitting.On the other hand,the accuracy,stability,noiseimmunity of the inversion is improved by the Tik-honov regularization method.Numerical experimenu and seismic data applications prove the feasibility of this method.
