Abstract:The processing and interpretation of three-dimensional seismic data are usually checked by three-dimensional forward modeling so that satisfactory results can be obtained successfully. The three-dimensional forward modeling used here is the finite difference inverse migration,the inverse operation of migration computation. It is a fast accurate forward method because of its simplicity,small computation and high vertical resolution. The inverse migration involves many new problems which ordinary migration don`t have;therefore,three inverse migration methods are tested here. Floating coordinate transform is introduced to greatly improve forward modeling. It is practically shown that the three-dimensional wave equation forward modeling by inverse migration is fast and accurate.
