Abstract:In this paper the expression formulas and characteristics of the seismic wavelet in depth domain in homogeneous media were analyzed, then the characteristics of the seismic wavelet in depth domain in layered media were thoroughly discussed. According to basic convolution principals and based on some main problems which occurs when analyzing seismic wavelet convolution in depth domain, it is suggested in this paper that the velocity replacement method can be used to conduct convolution in depth domain. The theoretical analysis and real data testing show that the method is feasible, it is easy to use, and it is an effective and efficient method as the wavelet was extracted from accurate imaging results in depth domain and the generated synthetic seismogram could be directly correlated with seismic records in depth domain.
