Trapezoid block modeling and qP/qSV reflection wave kinematic ray tracing in 2D layered VTI media

Abstract:Firstly,based on the trapezoid block modeling method in isotropic media proposed by Zelt,the trapezoid blocked model for layered VTI media was established,secondly,it was derived in the VTI media that qP wave and qSV wave follow accurate Snell's rule,and then the algorithm and flowchart for qP wave and qSV wave ray tracing in the VTI media was summed up,at last through initial-value ray tracing modeling cases in the horizontal surface and undulated surface VTI media,it is proven that the modeling method is feasible for ray tracing in the multi layer and undulated surface VTI media,the accuracy and high precision of the ray tracing to this type of modeling were also demonstrated.
