Abstract:Rodi suggested that the forward and reverse computations of 2D magneto-telluric sounding curve could be solved by rectangular finite element method. However, when an area is divided by a rectangular grid, the grid will become too dense in many places so that unknown knots will be increased, and consequently, the storage and the operation will be increased, The rectangular element can hardly work in the case of complicated geology and dipping formation.So the twice interpolation triangle finite element method is put forward which is suitable for solving magneto-telluric problem of dipping formation or irregular 2D geologic structures.This method was used to compute two geologic models which had been computed by Rodi.The results were the same as Rodi's, in addition, the knots and the operation were greatly decreased.
