Abstract:Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is the core of the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) which is more and more frequently applied to magnetotelluric signal processing. Some issues such as the envelope approach, end issue, and stop condition in EMD directly determine the success or failure of HHT method. Combining with electromagnetic signal characteristics, three problems are analyzed by comparison based model and real data were taken as example in this paper. And some useful solutions are obtained, which provide valuable references for EMD application in measured magnetotelluric signal analysis.
