Abstract:Faults in the eastern Maigaiti slope have a close relationship with oil gas migration and accumulation of Cambrian and Ordovician.Based on the information from well data,we first analyze characteristics of fault activity in Madong thrust belt and Mazhatage faults.Then we discuss the relationship between faults and hydrocarbon accumulation by determining those fault activity pattern and formation stage.Our research results suggest that the study area have developed multi-period fault activities such as early Caledonian,late Cale-donian,late Hercynian,and Himalayan.Mazhatage faults were formed in early Caledonian and finalized in the Himalayan period.Their structural style turned into basement involved anticline from detachment anticline.Mazhatage fault and Niaoshan fault were in the same fault belt,and were split into two different faults in the late Himalayan period and then integrated with the Gudongshan fault.Well Manan 1 fault was regulation fracture along north and south direction located in the middle of Mazhatage fault and Niaoshan fault.Madong thrust belt whose structural style is detachment anticline was formed in middle Caledonian and finalized in late Caledonian.Shenghe fault and Well Yubei 1 fault were formed in the same period with Madong thrust belt,which finalized in the late Hercynian.The hydrocarbon discoveries confirm that oil and gas reservoirs are structural traps finalized in the late Hercynian and Himalayan period.Oil reservoirs found in Well Yubei 1 fault were formed in late Hercynian,and gas reservoirs found in Niaoshan fault and Mazhatage fault zone were formed in Himalayan period.
